Position Description:
The Medical Director will provide scientific/clinical leadership and management for all promotional medical education/ communications activities.

Core Functions:
Qualified applicants will have experience providing scientific and clinical expertise at a promotional medical communications or pharmaceutical marketing company. Strong knowledge/experience in any and/or all of the following areas is desired: CNS, Cardiovascular, Metabolic, Infectious Diseases, Oncology, Transplant, Women’s Health, or other related therapeutic areas.
  • Provide strategic direction and development of quality scientific and medical content in a variety of therapeutic areas
  • Independent medical direction for ongoing and new business activities, with minimal day-to-day direction from General Manager
  • Lead internal and freelance staff and convey marketing strategy in scientific communications
  • Oversee and/or prepare slide presentations, publications, e-based initiatives, and other areas of content development to educate Health Care Professionals on products or disease states
  • Assist in New Business Development content, proposal and presentations, including product positioning, brand strategy and messaging
  • Excellent communication skills with clients as well as internal staff
  • Build relationships with clinical, research, and academic opinion leaders
  • Excellent time management, multitasking and ability to deliver on time and on message
  • Ability to work with internal staff and teams (program management, account management, etc) to ensure timely delivery of high-quality content
  • Ability to interact and work directly with the clients
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
Position Requirements:
  • PharmD, PhD, MD, DO advanced degree along with 3+ years of promotional experience in a healthcare communications agency, medical education, or pharmaceutical company.
  • An understanding of AMA guidelines, as well as, proposal writing and document editing abilities/experience.
  • Ability to provide independent medical direction, strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Close interaction with pharmaceutical marketing, computer software experience, and the ability to work both independent and as a team leader.
  • Clinical research and publication experience is a plus.
  • Individuals with experience in Cardiovascular, CNS, Infectious Disease, and/or Metabolic are desired. Individuals with experience in CNS, Cardiovascular, Metabolic, Infectious Diseases, Oncology, Transplant, Women’s Health, or other related therapeutic areas are preferred.
