Position Summary:
The AE serves as the client’s primary day-to-day contact for requests from the agency. The AE is primarily responsible for the initiation and execution of projects for the client.

Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor degree (minimum), preferably in the health sciences, marketing, or communications field
  • 2-3 years of pharmaceutical and/or agency experience
Special Requirements:
  • Willing to travel (~10%-20%)
  • Willing to work extra hours to meet impending deadlines
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of pharmaceutical industry
  • Superior oral and written communications skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to manage numerous projects, requests, and responsibilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to monitor competitor and industry development
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through
  • Basic understanding of marketing principals
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
Position Responsibilities:
  • Client management
    • Supports AS and AD in cultivating and building solid relationships with clients
    • Assists AS and AD in developing communication (publication, advocacy development, and medical education) plans
    • Schedules and prepares materials for client meetings
    • Documents client contacts (via e-mail), requests (change orders), and meetings (conference reports) concisely and accurately
    • Prepares and sends materials to clients and authors/speakers
    • Researches and recommends (with AS/AD approval) journals and conferences
    • Submits abstracts/manuscripts and follows up on acceptance
    • Performs research as directed by AS/AD
  • Project management
    • Opens and closes jobs
    • Builds, maintains, and drives timelines—projects must be on time
    • Works closely with operations department to develop cost estimates prior to project initiation and routinely review estimate as project progresses
    • Alerts AS/AD when job may exceed estimate—projects must be on budget
    • Reviews monthly billing with AS/AD
    • Maintains status report, including timelines
    • Maintains electronic and hard-copy job folders based on established procedures
    • Manages multiple priorities
    • Responsible for fiscal management of assigned accounts, including budget development and management
    • Monitors overall account status and development
    • Ensures quality control of all projects prior to presentation to client
  • Creative and scientific output
    • Provides client/brand backgrounder approved by AS/AD for new clients prior to project kickoff meeting
    • Provides creative/scientific team with complete briefing document, which has been approved by AS/AD
    • Reviews with AS/AD creative and scientific output to ensure it is on strategy, on message, and clearly exceeds client’s expectations
  • New business
    • Assists with research as directed by AS/AD
    • Assists AS/AD in proposal development
    • Prepares materials for presentations
    • Coordinates pre- and post-mailings
  • Personnel management
    • Trains and supervises JAE
    • Identifies and provides developmental opportunities for JAE
