Description:
This position acts in both a creative capacity and as a liaison between the project manager and scientific communications writers in all editorial capacities. Responsible for generating abstracts, posters, manuscripts, and slide kits for pharmaceutical industry clients. Ensures that the highest quality control standards are met with regard to all published documentation within the writing group, e.g., proofing, editing, bluelines, galleys, etc. Creates and maintains print and electronic indexes and databases related to all facets of scientific communication within the department. Establishes and integrates editorial policies that are consistent with the company's image, philosophy, business and product marketing strategies. Ensures that all published documentation is in accordance with accepted company policies and quality control procedures by establishing and promoting proofing and editing procedures. Interfaces with strategic communications managers and scientific communications writers as well as colleagues in account services, and creative services in the process of executing his/her duties.

Position Requirements
  • Four year college education with an emphasis in a scientific discipline, journalism, communications, or English.
  • Extensive experience in science, engineering, and/or medicine
  • Knowledge of medical publishing policies and procedures as well as demonstrated project management skills.
  • 5 or more years in healthcare communications/publishing industry.
  • A minimum of 2 years medical/scientific writing experience
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communications skills
  • Knowledge of editorial policies, procedures, and style manuals
  • Demonstrated analytical and scientific skills
  • Knowledge of healthcare industry/previous industry experience and Pharma Guidelines
  • Good project management skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, relational database, project management, and graphics software for PC and MAC platforms
