Description:
Role(s):
The Scientific Director, in collaboration with the VP, Group Account Services, is responsible for leading the strategic development of educational goals and objectives, and execution of established deliverables. Strategic management encompasses active participation in internal and client meetings; proactive and independent background product and/or therapeutic category research; interaction with faculty, clients and/or other key opinion leaders; ability to help create and execute scientifically and promotionally sound programs and/or educational materials which includes managing the writing and editing aspects of educational materials developed and produced. The Scientific Director may have a role in the training, mentoring, and development of Associate Scientific Directors.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with the VP, Group Account Services to lead the strategic development of educational goals and objectives, along with new program concept development and proposal design and writing
  • Assists the VP, Group Account Services in strategizing and developing materials for – and participating in – new business pitches with existing and prospective clients.
  • Demonstrates a leadership role in working with faculty and clients on issues related to scientific content, client support and communications, and collaborating with content developers; as well as publishers, audiovisual, slide, and transcription vendors, and other account team members.
  • Provides guidance to the Associate Scientific Directors in development and execution of program materials.
  • Prepares a range of meeting summaries (e.g. executive summaries, top line summaries) and reviews/assesses meeting outcomes .
  • Advises the Vice President, Group Account Services on issues related to resource allocation, project style and quality, and training.
  • Travels to and manages on-site editorial needs for live meetings.
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Master’s degree or PhD (in life sciences) or PharmD is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 – 7 years of strategic content development and editorial experience within the medical education, clinical, publishing, and/or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Extensive, demonstrated and accomplished knowledge of client organizations through consultative and strategic interaction.
  • Minimum of two to three (2-3) years of expertise in a specific therapeutic area or disease state.
  • Superior familiarity with scientific language, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to professionally interact with clients and/or other external medical/scientific personnel.
  • Ability to satisfactorily handle multiple, diverse projects, and tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to assume a leadership/mentor role within the department.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.
